The Fiton process is applicable to in-situ / ex-situ bioremediation / biocatalysis of crude oil, coal tar, kerosene, creosote, herbicides, oil and grease, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene xylene (BTEX), polyaromatic hydrocarbon (PAH), pentachlorophenol (PCP), diesel fuels, gasoline, dioxin, tetrachloroethene (TCE) and pesticides.

The Fiton process is also used for remediating Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) from contaminated mines and extraction of metals from industrial effluents.
